Virtual Memorial Day Service

Our Memorial Day Service is a long-standing and much-loved tradition. While COVID-19 prevents a physical celebration this year, we will be virtually honoring our valiant servicemen and women for their sacrifice with messages from Mayor Michelle Kaufusi, Senator Mike Lee and a re-airing of last year’s touching program featuring keynote speaker, Doug Witney, Vietnam Veteran, US Army.

In the midst of today’s challenges, we invite you to join us for a time of peace and gratitude during our online Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 25 at 10:00 am. Please tune in on Provo City's Facebook Page at that time.

The service includes youth speaker, Rebecca Reynosa, Freedom Festival Essay Medalist; and remarks by Captain Andrew Howard, US Navy (ret)., musical numbers by Treeside Elementary Choir, the Pledge of Allegiance lead by Miss Provo Maren Paris Cline, a 21-gun salute by Metro Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, and the “Taps” bugle call by Jaden Anderson, American Legion Eagle Scout Scholarship Recipient.

The Provo City Cemetery is currently following Provo City Proceed with Caution & Governor Herbert’s Utah Leads Together 2.0 social distancing guidelines. The cemetery will have signs posted at each entrance with the Provo City Proceed with Caution Recovery Plan. The Cemetery office will be open Saturday, May 23 and Monday, May 25 from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.

We hope you'll stay safe this Memorial Day weekend. The Governor has cautioned continued vigilance with safety measures such as hand washing, hand sanitization, social distancing, and wearing masks when social distancing is not possible. We must also continue to protect our most vulnerable populations.
