Paving begins on 500 West

The 500 West Project hit a new milestone with the start of paving at Center Street. Paving began July 31 and will take place at three other locations along 500 West through the end of the year.

The road will be repaved in concrete, which has significant benefits including longer roadway life, decreased maintenance cost and time, and greater skid resistance which increases safety for drivers.

What to Expect:

The paved areas of 500 West will be closed for approximately 30 days while concrete comes to strength after paving. Sidewalks will remain open and parking will be available on side streets.

Impacts:

  • No access to roadway, including driveways and crosswalks, in the paving area

  • Increased noise, dust, and vibration from equipment during paving

  • Side streets will be closed at 500 west

Once roadway paving is complete, crews will pave curb, gutter, and sidewalk. Residents and businesses should expect additional impacts to access of up to 14 days or more after paving.

The project team will provide additional followup information to residents, businesses, and the community as work moves forward. Properties adjacent to the paving area will receive a flyer on their door prior to night work beginning.

For more information please contact the Public Involvement Team via hotline or email and visit the project webpage at www.udot.utah.gov/go/provo500w.

Thank you for your patience! Center Street will reopen on Friday and there are no more planned closures for this intersection. Paving at 100-300 South will start before the end of August.
