Got Plans Tonight? Join Us For the Monthly Art Stroll

Updated: Oct 5, 2019

All art should inspire and evoke emotion. Art should be something you can actually feel.

-- Chris DeRubeis

Downtown Provo Inc. has been running and operating the Art Stroll for many years.

Three years ago, the Art Stroll was infused with new energy, consistency and a goal to bring people together to share and connect through creativity--and people have taken notice, with attendance tripling in that time.

If you haven’t joined us yet, you are missing out on all of the ways public art builds and shapes a community for the better. I’ve always felt the art in a community defines its character, more than almost anything, as it has the ability to separate one city from another—creating the unique community personality that makes people proud to call it home, anxious to visit or to forever retain a lasting memory of their experience.

What is the Art Stroll?

Every first Friday of the month from 6-9 pm, rain or shine, all-year-round, local businesses showcase different local artists. These artists might be reading poetry or offering an interactive experience or perhaps simply displaying their artwork, with the unique opportunity to talk to the artist one-on-one about their inspiration.

Most venues are selling art from $5 to $5000, depending on the gallery and the artist. But the beauty of the Art Stroll is that it is a free event that all ages will find enjoyable and engaging.

Another popular feature of the Art Stroll are the many murals scattered throughout downtown Provo, popping up on unexpectedly on buildings, becoming a visual gift to the community. Each month, a new mural is commissioned to add to our growing list of picture-worthy building art. Find a map of murals here:

Where Can I Find More Information?

As the Art Stroll has grown, it has received greater attendance from around the State and is now featured prominently as one of the highlights on Utah’s event website at

In addition, a map is produced each month outlining the featured artists. As the weather cools next month, hot chocolate makes its warm debut again with a free cup given to all who visit four downtown businesses to get their map stamped. Got Plans Tonight?

In addition to all of the usual fun and fare, it is my pleasure to partner with Downtown Provo Inc. and one our valued downtown businesses, Heindselman’s, to offer an interactive, community art project called “Knots”. Showing their true community partnership, I'd like to say a special thank you to Heindselman's for donating all of the yarn.

“KNOTS” is a series of public interactive art installations featured in downtown Provo, in connection with tonight's Provo Art Stroll.

The goal is not only to promote and create public art in our City, but to allow opportunities for residents and visitors to Provo to participate in the creation of that art—because you are all part of what makes Provo a beautiful place.

Join us! Tie a knot, make a connection and let’s enjoy the art we create TOGETHER.
